The Benefits of Biochar

The benefits of adding Biochar to soil can be divided in two parts:

Promoting soil quality:

  • Renovation and enhancement of soil fertility and its organic compounds
  • Increasing the efficiency of fertilizers (reducing fertilizer needs)
  • Improving water storage (reducing the need for irrigation)
  • Absorbing the residues of toxins and herbicides
  • Reducing soil acidity
  • Reducing the diffusion of nutrition
  • Increasing cationic exchange capacity and interacting with food cycle through regulating soil’s PH

Promoting Plant Growth:

  • Improving healthy root formation
  • Long-term maintaining of nutrients for plant
  • Induction the systemic response of the plant to leaf fungal diseases and improving responses to soil pathogenic agents

One of the most important features of Biochar is its useful longevity in effectiveness and stability of soil structural quality in long term. Biochar is habitation of a large number of useful soil microorganisms, so it can improve the soil condition and the plants’ health. Biochar is of High special level so it can keep water in soil for more time and increases cationic exchange capacity and microbial activity therefore decreases the leaching of food nutrition.

Biochar can absorb and inactive the soil heavy elements. This product also can improve soil quality and decrease the emission of greenhouse gases. Researches show that using Biochar can increase the function in plants which need more Potassic fertilizers and higher PH.
